The National Immigration Administration (Exit-Entry Administration of the People's Republic of China) was established on April 2, 2018 as a national bureau administered by the Ministry of Public Security, with the level of deputy minister. The main responsibilities are: responsible for the national immigration management; Responsible for coordinating the formulation of immigration and entry-exit management policies and plans, coordinating the organization and implementation, and drafting relevant laws and regulations; Responsible for establishing and improving the coordination mechanism for visa management, organizing and implementing the management of visa and entry permit issuance and visa extension renewal at foreigners' ports of entry into China; Responsible for the management of foreigners studying in China, work-related management, stay and residence and permanent residence management, nationality management, and refugee management; Responsible for entry-exit border inspection, border people's exchange management, border area border management; Responsible for the management of the entry and exit of Chinese citizens for private reasons, and the examination and approval of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents returning to the mainland (mainland) to settle down; Take the lead in coordinating the governance of illegal entry, illegal residence, illegal employment of foreigners and the repatriation of illegal immigrants, and investigate and deal with illegal and criminal acts such as obstructing national (border) border management; Undertake international cooperation in the field of migration, etc.
