Shanghai Planetarium (Branch of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum) is a large-scale science popularization venue invested by the Shanghai Municipal government, located in the Lingang new area of China (Shanghai) Free Trade Pilot Zone, near Dishuihu Station of Metro Line 16. Shanghai Planetarium covers an area of 58,000 square meters, construction area of 38,000 square meters, is the world's largest planetarium. With the vision of "shaping a complete view of the universe", the Shanghai Planetarium strives to stimulate people's curiosity, encourage people to feel the stars, understand the universe, and think about the future.

The main building of the Shanghai Planetarium forms a "celestial orbit" with a beautiful spiral shape. The three circular elements of the circular cave window, the inverted dome and the spherical screen theater constitute a "three-body" structure, which jointly interprets the basic laws of the movement of celestial bodies. The outdoor greening Outlines the spiral arms of the galaxy, and naturally connects with the "Starry Sky" park, fully reflecting the organic integration of architecture and ecology.

The main exhibition area of the Shanghai Planetarium includes three parts: "Home", "Universe" and "Journey", which show the vast picture of the universe in a panoramic way, create a multi-sensory exploration journey, and help the audience shape a complete view of the universe. "Home" exhibition area starts from our long-lost starry sky, with the world's most advanced optical planetarium to take you to look up at the bright starry sky, and then step into space to marvel at the huge Earth, moon and sun, leading the audience to walk through the solar system, appreciate the precious meteorites, and then face the magnificent beauty of the galaxy, understand our position in space; The "Universe" exhibition area presents the wonderful phenomena of the universe from the five dimensions of space-time, light, gravity, elements and life, and many interactive exhibits take you to explore the laws of celestial evolution and operation; The "Journey" exhibition area builds a bright river of scientific stars, showing the great course of human exploration of the universe, as well as the beautiful vision of the future development of astronomy and space exploration, inspiring the audience to think and understand deeply.

The Shanghai Planetarium has four professional astronomical observation and sky demonstration equipment, the 65cm Adaptive Optics Solar Telescope (EAST) can achieve multi-band observation of the sun during the day, showing high-definition images of sunspots, prominences, flares, etc. The one-meter bifocal telescope (DOT) allows viewers to see the moon, planets and beautiful deep sky objects clearly at night. The world's most advanced 23-meter diameter multi-functional ultra HD globe screen theater takes you into the mysterious universe; The advanced optical planetarium projects a high-precision simulation of the starry sky, bringing you a stunning and realistic starry experience.

In addition, the Shanghai Planetarium also arranged in other areas of the "China asking the sky" (Chinese people's astronomical exploration course), "Curious Planet" (children's paradise), "Heading to Mars" (science fiction experience) and other special exhibition areas, as well as starry sky exploration camp, meteorite/maker Lab and other educational activities, to bring you more space exploration experience.
