The basic laws of DNA replication

The basic laws of DNA replication

(1) Semi-preserved replication, i.e., one strand of each progeny DNA molecule is newly synthesized and the other is from the parent DNA molecule;

(2) the direction of replication, that is, the growth end of the DNA strand is 3', and its extension is carried out in the direction of 5'→3';

(3) discontinuity of reproduction;

(4) the initiation role in DNA synthesis, that is, primers participate in the synthesis of initiating DNA, and most of the primers in the replication system are short RNA strands that are complementary to the template DNA strand, which can be synthesized by primases;

(5) DNA replication extends from the starting point to both directions, forming bidirectional replication.
