The company's business covers diabetes, cancer, neuroscience, cardiovascular disease and other fields. There are more than 40,000 employees around the world, of which more than 7,400 employees are engaged in drug research and development, conducting drug clinical trials in more than 50 countries around the world, with R&D centers in 8 countries around the world, drug manufacturing enterprises in 13 countries around the world, and products are sold in 143 countries and regions around the world. In 2014, Eli Lilly announced that it would acquire Lohmann Animal Health, a privately held German company, to strengthen its animal vaccine business. In 2019, Eli Lilly acquired Loxo Oncology, a NASDAQ-listed biopharmaceutical company, for approximately $8 billion in cash, a move to strengthen its oncology pipeline and capture a range of promising drugs in Loxo Oncology's pipeline. On December 3, 2022, Eli Lilly announced that only choice ® (abeciclib tablets) was included in the new version of the National Basic Medical Insurance, Work-related Injury Insurance and Maternity Insurance Drug Catalogue (2021 Edition) in Category B. According to the official announcement, this is the first time that CDK4 & 6 inhibitors have been included in the National Medical Insurance Catalog.
