Founded in 2000, Macao University of Science and Technology has developed rapidly and become the largest comprehensive university in Macao. Ranked among the Top 300 in the World by The Times Higher Education and 26th in the World Young University Ranking. The University is committed to cultivating all kinds of high-quality talents for the society, implementing the policy of attaching equal importance to teaching and research, emphasizing the characteristics of the school, pursuing excellence, and constantly stepping on a new level of academic development. In May 2022, the University became the first university in Macau to successfully pass the British Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. QAA) Higher Education Quality Assessment - Institutional Accreditation of colleges and universities. The University is located in Taipa Island, Macao. The campus covers an area of about 210,000 square meters. With beautiful environment and convenient transportation, it is an ideal place for students to study and engage in research.

School purpose and development vision

The University adheres to the motto of "sincere attitude", adheres to the educational purpose of "promoting cultural exchanges, cultivating talents, promoting economic development and promoting social progress", adheres to the needs of the development of Macao and the country, fully absorbs the educational experience of world-class universities, and creates various educational courses. To cultivate high-quality talents with solid theoretical foundation, strong practical and innovative ability, fluent in both Chinese and English, with both moral and ability, and in line with the needs of the development of science and technology and economic globalization, and actively expand diversified and cutting-edge academic research, promote leapfrog development of the University, and strive to become one of the well-known universities in the Asia-Pacific region.

Faculty setting and curriculum characteristics

With the approval of the Macao SAR Government, the University has the right to offer doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees, and some courses are taught in Portuguese or Spanish.  The university now has the School of Innovative Engineering, the School of Business, the School of Law, the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, the School of Humanities and Arts, the School of Medicine, the School of International Studies, the School of Liberal Arts, and the Education Department of General Studies, covering the courses of arts, science, engineering, law, management, business, medicine, medicine, tourism, art, communication, language and other disciplines. In addition to full-time degree programmes, the College of Liberal Arts also offers evening degree programmes and short training courses to provide lifelong learning opportunities for those who wish to continue their studies. In July 2023, The School of Business of Macao University of Science and Technology was accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), ranking among the top 6% of business schools in the world.

 In the "Global University Employability Rankings 2022" released by the UK's Times Higher Education, the University of Macao ranked 244th, becoming the only university in Macao for two consecutive years.
