China University of Political Science and Law is a multi-disciplinary university with law as the main body and literature, history, philosophy, economics, management and other disciplines. China University of Political Science and Law (CUL) is a key university of the National 211 Project and the key university of the "985" Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform "project, and a key university directly under the Ministry of Education.

China University of Political Science and Law is known as the "top institution of legal education in China". In the course of more than 60 years, the university has trained more than 300,000 outstanding talents for the country. The University is the main force in the national legal education and the training of legal talents. It has participated in almost all the legislative activities of the country since its establishment, leading the innovation of national legal education, the innovation of legal theories and the renewal of legal thoughts, and representing the country in the exchange of legal scholarship and legal culture with other countries. The University has established cooperation and exchange relations with 267 well-known universities, research institutions and international organizations in 54 countries and regions. Every year, through various cooperation and exchange programs, more than 1,000 teachers and students are sent abroad for exchange and study, and hundreds of short-term and long-term foreign experts are hired to give lectures at the university. Since 2012, the University has established four overseas Confucius Institutes in the UK, Romania, Barbados and Norway.
